We do not allow links in postings here, to reduce the likelihood of stupid SEO spammers overloading us with their garbage. I occasionally manually edit posts to make links active.

It is somewhat unclear what you’re trying to report here, but bugs do not belong on the forums. They need to be filed at http://tracker.ardour.org/ otherwise they will generally be forgotten about. Are you proposing a change of some kind? I can’t tell, sorry.

Yes) It’s just my proposing. I thought, that my links to .gif-pictures could be enough to show the idea. First link shows default Ardour’s state, second - is my wish to change (I’ve made in GIMP).
I’ll try to explain.
My proposing is to make the visual difference between mouse modes more pronounced. When I’m working in “G” mode, I don’t need to see every midi notes clearly. That’s why notes could be more blanked colored. Also the midi event cold be not so transparent: for subconscious it’s looked like “covered in box” or “closed container”. The brain will trigger this appearance like “G” mouse mode. Than when I press “E”, the midi event becomes transparent: for subconscious it’s looked like “inside the container”.
In using Ardour I often press a midi note, but it could be selected, because “I’m in G-mode” - ok I press “E”. And the reverse situation: try to drag midi event, but forgot that “I’m in E-mode” now.)

But anyway, for my opinion, it’s very good implementation of way to work with midi in main project window. No need to open detached window for piano roll.

Finely!! I fond some good solution!

To get the appreciable difference between “G” and “E”, I found two options in Edit>Preferences>Theme>Transparency:

editable region - move the slider to the left;
midi frame base - move the slider to the right.

A big difference between sliders position provides a big visual difference between E&G modes! As for me - it’s comfortable.
