upgrading from 4.6 to 4.7

I had downloaded Ardour 4.6 from the homepage, and now wanted to upgrade to the 4.7 version. How can i do this? I have ubuntu 16.04.

You can download from the download page here. What’s the problem?
Go to http://ardour.org/download.html and follow instructions.
For the fully functional version, you’ll have to subscribe or pay at least $1 for your download.

I have already downloaded the 4.7. version. Should i now run:
cd /folder/where/you/saved/the/file
/bin/sh ./<DOWNLOADED_FILENAME>.run
again for an upgrade?

We don’t do “upgrades” in the sense that you may be used to. You should run those command, yes, but they will install a new version of Ardour, in parallel with the old one. You will be asked if you want to remove/uninstall the old one - you are free to choose whether to do so or not. You can have any number of versions of Ardour installed (from ardour.org) at one time as you want.

@Paul Great, thank you. Regards, Amir
