I have two audio captures in my system. I can choose any of them in the routing grid in any track. But when I add a new audio track to session, it automatically connects to one of the captures (also it changes the capture from 1 to 2 from track to track creation). Some times I need to create, for example, 9 tracks, which I’m going to use for multichannel instrument routing, so I don’t need such automatic connection. Is there a way to disable it?

Under ‘Advanced options’ when you create a session, you can untick “Inputs | Automatically connect to physical inputs”, or you can restrict the number of inputs that tracks & buses will auto-connect to.
You can also set this as a global preference. In Ardour 5.6 & later: set “Edit | Preferences | Signal Flow | Track and Bus Connections | Connect track inputs” to “manually”.
(I mean “Edit | Preferences | Signal Flow | Track and Bus Connections | Connect track inputs” to “manually”)
