When using realtime audio software, your system should be set the most aggressive power consumption mode possible: no state changes, no frequency changes, no nothing.
Things may work with more flexible settings, but theoretically and conceptually, using them would be a mistake. You want constant CPU cycles-per-second, and no changes or interrupts that can get in the way of audio processing.
Thanks Paul. That’s pretty clear! I’ve got a Thinkpad T430 on the way to use for audio recordings. I never do recordings on battery, anyways, but good to know not to mess with it. -Josh
