Hi all,

ardour runs just fine on my system but i receive serious dropouts when i'm looping some bars ardour is transport synced to jack. The dropouts happen each time the loop is restarted and seem to get worse after each turn (to a certain extend).

version is 0.99.2

Jack is build without tmpfs and runs just fine with ardour even with my old sblive otherwise. I tried to enlarge Jacks buffer size, but it doesn't help.

any ideas ?

jack startup command is:
/usr/bin/jackd -R -dalsa -r48000 -p512 -n2 -D -Chw:0 -Phw:0 -o2

kind regards
martin

Martin,

Ardour2 has the same behaviour. I just saw this issue @ http://ardour.org/roadmap

basic usability
* fix up transport jumpiness around stop/start

So, it's going to be fixed in the near future (I hope)

Can anybody confirm this behavior with Ardour2-beta9?

1. Create a new, empty project
2. Create a loop range of a few beats
3. Set ardour to use jack instead of internal and punch in "timemaster"
4. Play the loop.

Ardour will stutter, the 'shuttle speed control' moves rapidly and the 'play loop' and 'stop' buttons flash each time the range loops until Ardour crashes...
