why not re-write ardour from slow c++ codebase to native d (digitalmars.com/d)?
the features of D offers more modern techniques aiding further development also.
the differences are minor so a re-write wouldn't be a to big of a task either.

why do you hate real programmers?

do you not understand anything about realtime programming?

do you have any idea what fraction of ardour's code is GUI related, and tied to a GUI toolkit written in C++?
