I have never used subversion, but I entered the command line you indicated for non-developer access and received the following:

svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/'
svn: PROPFIND of '/': 200 OK (http://ardour.org)

Any quick help is appreciated. Meanwhile I'll try to learn something about subversion!

Thanks.

there was a configuration problem that we didn't detect till after the information about subversion was posted. let us know if it still fails to work for you.

Yes, well replace '@' with '.' in the command line and it appears to work just fine.
