Libcurl 1.4 download

Hi there, I’m getting a bit frustrated so need some help regarding the Libcurl 1.4 software library that is recommended before I use Ardour.

Yesterday I downloaded Ardour and Jack DMG files using my MacBook Pro (wifi) and transfered those on to my main studio Mac Pro which isn’t online yet. However, after reading the info on https://ardour.org/first_time_osx_native about system updates I tried to find the Libcurl software library but cannot find it anywhere. I can’t at present run system updates on the MacPro because it’s not online but I did all the latest system updates on the MacBook Pro and still could not find anything named Libcurl.

So I’d like to know if there’s a particular update I should be running that doesn’t automatically appear when I run the main Mac system update? Or can I just download Libcurl 1.4 by itself anywhere?..and if so in what format (dmg? zip?) and once I have it where does it need to go on my system.

Systems:

MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
OSX 10.4.11 (Tiger)

MacPro 2 x 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
4GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
OSX 10.4.10 (Tiger)

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Ben

My advice would be to download and install the 10.4.11 system update. IIRC the libcurl came in with a system update. To locate it on your machine you would need to search in folders that finder is hard coded not to show, so unless you were doing a commandline find operation you wouldn’t find it.

You can get a standalone installer and information about the system update from here…

Of course I would always reccomend double checking any hardware problems or anything else that may have started happening with a system update, but that one is old enough I doubt there is much that is going to be a problem.
