Hi I am finally ready to start recording with my tape recorder (Scully 280) to source the music. I want to then mix it in Ardour. What do I need to buy(device/preamp compatible with AArdour) that will give me 8 tracks into Ardour?
The M Audio Delta 1010 works perfect under Linux/Ardour and doesn’t suck. 8 in / 8 out and all line level, which is actually an advantage in your case. In my experience the micamps in any prosumer sort of board range from about as good as what you’ll find in a Mackie VLZ to much worse. The 1010 is all line level in and out, no cheap mic pre’s to gum up the sound.
