Download starts and then stops after few minutes and the finder is no more responding.
What happens ?

I had done what you explain but with the same result : the download freezes and I must restart my computer.
If your entire computer is freezing and forces a restart, there is something wrong with your machine/software. No download should ever cause that by itself.
