Ardour Install problems

I installed JACK, then I downloaded and installed x11SDK.pkg from my Tiger disc. Then I tried to start ardour from the Icon and got the message that X11 isn’t installed. So I went back to the read me, read it, downloaded and installed the XcodeTools.mpkg from my Tiger Disc. Restarted my computer, started Jack Pilot and tried to start Ardour from the Icon, same message (no x11 etc.)

Here is the log from the console

Any ideas?

Can you launch X11 manually? It should be in the Utilities folder in Applications.

I found it in the developer folder, there is a folder called x11 and inside a bunch of .h files. None of which are specifically named x11. So, I am looking for an application? Perhaps I am installing the wrong thing from the disc? I will look into this.

I have a problem… I can’t find a good YaST repository to install Ardour, plus some of the additional packages, for x86-64. I am running openSUSE 10.2 on x86-64. Help?!?

X11 should be available somewhere in your Applications folder or in one of it’s subfolders. It sounds like you’ve installed the development files for X11, but not X11 itself.

The SDK tools are not what you’re looking for. I don’t remember all the install details but X11 itself for Tiger is on the OSX install DVD. Apple’s intructions on the Apple support site are pretty good. I had some difficulty in finding it but when you open the Tiger install disk, be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom to find the right folder.

I had the same initial problems and had installed the wrong X11.

But you don’t really need to know where to find the right one. After inserting the Tiger DVD just type “x11” into the finder’s search bar and all instances will show. The one that worked was called X11User.pkg.
