Mac users shouldn't have to install X11

Now, don't get too excited, but we've made some great progress on removing the X11 requirement on MacOS X thanks to the gtk-quartz guys. Of course, you still need Jack, so this is still not a click-n-go thing like Logic. But don't worry, we are also working on removing the need to have Logic installed. :)

Here is a screenshot

It's hard to tell, but X11 isn't running at all. Stay tuned for more updates.

“(…)we are also working on removing the need to have Logic installed.”

I guess you wanted to say “the need to have jack installed.”
Doesn´t make sense this way. If I had Logic installed, I wouldn´t mind about Ardour. (For the moment at least. For sure, Ardour will top Logic one day  )

It was a joke about Logic.

Jack is awesome.

phew.

I laughed…

Too late, I’m already excited

What’s up with GTK+Quartz, though? A quick look at the Sourceforge site suggests there hasn’t been any activity there for the last 4 years…

Best, C

This is based on the Gtk+ for Mac OS X project which has been merged into the official Gtk+ tree.

Thanks. For some reason when I was googling for information, I didn’t get to that page.

Best, Charles

I’m looking forward to really RUN Ardour!

I think Ardour is a really nice software that would allow not just those with a thing with music to create or edit their music but as well as for those regular users to play and have fun with music and somehow make their own style.
