My Time

I did a new version of a song I wrote a long time ago. I’m thinking it sounds pretty decent but I’m not impartial.

Hi Craig,

Great job! You have your trademark nice tone and sweet melodic lead lines, you have a nice pocket for your vocal in this one too and I really like the tempo and how the song moves…

If you don’t mind I have a couple of suggestions, as always take 'em or leave 'em…

I wonder how the rhythm guitar would sound if it were a little crisper and less dirty, and with this tempo and the minor key I think a nice ringing acoustic guitar would add some more dimension and space. I like the drums generally but I’d like to hear some variety in the cymbals used for crashes and less double shots on the crashes, I always find that crashes need to be anchored by a kick drum or they sound empty and thin especially with programmed drums, but even real drummers will rarely use a crash or splash without a kick underneath it.

Thanks for sharing, nice to see you on Soundcloud now, you have quite an impressive collection there!

Take care, and keep ‘em comin’!

Thanks for the tips about the drums. I’m pretty clueless about drumming. I’m probably going to give that song a rest for a while but I certainly will come back to it eventually and try some different scenarios with the guitars

I like the song, but the vocals are a bit dry for my taste, and the drums could use a little more punch. I have some new plugins I want to try out, I would like to try mixing it if you have somewhere you could put up the project files.

@ccaudle
If you go to my souncloud profile and click " read full profile" it will show an email address. If I don’t get back to you right away it’s because I’m starting holidays. Maybe you could suggest somewhere that I could upload the files that is free.

https://archive.org/ is a good place to upload files, full ardour sessions, stems… etc.
